Stephen Hawking, the renowned physicist, has issued a dire warning about the potential dangers of making first contact with extraterrestrial beings. He suggests that such an encounter could lead to human annihilation and alien dominance over Earth.
Hawking advocates for a cautious approach towards communication with potential alien life forms, citing Gliese 832c, a super-hot planet capable of supporting life, as an example.
According to him, establishing contact with advanced extraterrestrial civilizations could resemble the infamous first encounter between Columbus and Native Americans, which had disastrous consequences.
Hawking fears that alien civilizations might be aggressive, traveling through the universe in search of planets to exploit and dominate, eventually leading to the end of human life on Earth.
Hawking’s apprehensions regarding alien contact aren’t new. He publicly discussed the threat of extraterrestrial beings to humanity in a 2010 Discovery Channel appearance.

In addition to this, Hawking raises alarms about the dangers of climate change. He suggests that if not addressed, Earth could reach scorching temperatures similar to Venus, turning it into a “hothouse” unsuitable for human life.
Hawking criticizes President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement, stating that it could push Earth to a tipping point, potentially leading to irreversible global warming and extreme temperatures of up to 250 degrees Celsius.
While some scientists disagree with Hawking, arguing that Earth’s distance from the Sun and its atmospheric composition prevent such temperature extremes, Hawking’s warnings underscore the urgency of addressing these existential threats.
